Mohamed Bayo Close to Joining Royal Antwerp FC
Mohamed Bayo, the 26-year-old Lille OSC striker, is reportedly nearing a move to Belgian side Royal Antwerp FC. This development comes despite earlier interest from English Championship club Ipswich Town and Turkish giants Besiktas.
Bayo has struggled for playing time at Lille this season, finding himself second in the pecking order behind Canadian forward Jonathan David. Although David is expected to leave Lille on a free transfer this summer, Bayo appears set to depart first.
The Guinean international started in Lille’s recent 6-1 victory over Feyenoord in the Europa Conference League. However, this appearance seems to have been his swan song for the French club. According to reports, Royal Antwerp is keen to finalize Bayo’s transfer before their upcoming match against Club Brugge this weekend.
The move is expected to be a loan deal, offering Bayo the opportunity for more regular playing time in the Belgian top flight. This transfer could provide a fresh start for the striker, who has found opportunities limited in Ligue 1 this season.
