UEFA has confirmed that Italian international Moise Kean will serve a two-match suspension in European competitions after his red card in the Conference League play-off first leg against Ukrainian side Polissya last Thursday.
Eventful 45 Minutes for Kean
Kean had a remarkable first half in Fiorentina`s victory over Polissya, managing to score a goal, provide an assist, and receive a red card all before halftime. The former Juventus forward was shown a straight red for elbowing an opponent after being held and having his hair pulled.
While UEFA did not find sufficient evidence to impose a full three-match ban for violent conduct, they have decided on a two-match suspension for Kean.
Impact on Fiorentina`s European Campaign
As a result of this decision, Kean will be unavailable for Stefano Pioli`s side in the second leg of the Conference League play-off against Polissya this Thursday. He will also miss the first match of the tournament proper, assuming Fiorentina qualifies.
Despite Kean`s absence, Fiorentina remains strong favorites to advance. With a 3-0 away win in the first leg, they can afford to lose by two goals at home in the return fixture and still progress to the next round.
