Monaco CEO Stands Firm Behind Manager Adi Hütter Despite Recent Struggles
Despite AS Monaco’s recent dip in form, CEO Thiago Scuro has publicly backed manager Adi Hütter, who recently extended his contract until 2027. The team’s performance has been inconsistent, leading to their elimination from the Coupe de France and a slip to fourth place in Ligue 1. Their Champions League future also hangs in the balance as they prepare to face Benfica in Lisbon.
Scuro defended the decision to extend Hütter’s contract, citing the manager’s achievements in qualifying for the Champions League and nurturing young talent from the academy. He dismissed rumors of a potential managerial change, stating, “There was never any discussion about changing the manager.”
The CEO acknowledged the dominance of Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, describing them as “without doubt the best PSG team we have ever seen.” He admitted that challenging for the title this year would have been “very ambitious,” with Monaco currently 16 points behind the leaders.
Looking to the future, both Scuro and Hütter have identified the need to add more experienced players to the squad. Scuro explained, “In the future, we may need to bring in more maturity and leadership, but we have shown that we are already capable of being in the top three in Ligue 1.”
Hütter echoed these sentiments in a recent interview, stating, “It is my opinion that we must take the next step […] for sure, in some games, we miss a little bit of experience in the right moments.”
Despite the challenges, Monaco’s leadership remains committed to their long-term vision, focusing on developing young talent while gradually incorporating more experienced players to compete at the highest level.
