Monaco FC Secures Second Place Worldwide in Future-Proofing Strategy
A recent analysis by the CIES Football Observatory has positioned AS Monaco as the second most future-ready club among 37 leagues globally. The study examined the percentage of minutes played by each club’s players with contracts extending beyond 2026 in the current league season.
Chelsea FC leads the rankings, with 91.8% of their Premier League minutes played by long-term contracted players. Monaco follows closely at 91.3%, with none of their current squad members’ contracts expiring at the end of this season. AZ Alkmaar from the Netherlands rounds out the top three at 89.2%.
Paris Saint-Germain also features prominently in the top five with 87.9%. Other French clubs appear further down the list, with Stade de Reims at 60th place (68.3%), OGC Nice at 77th (65.4%), and RC Strasbourg Alsace at 83rd (64.2%).
This ranking highlights Monaco’s strategic approach to player retention and long-term planning, positioning them well for future success in both domestic and international competitions.
