Monaco Players Zakaria and Mawissa Doubtful for Brest Clash
AS Monaco’s team captain Denis Zakaria and defender Christian Mawissa were notably absent from Thursday’s training session, raising concerns about their availability for Saturday’s match against Stade Brestois.
While most of the squad is fit and ready, including recently recovered players like Jordan Teze, Soungoutou Magasssa, and Kassoum Ouattara, as well as the returning Aleksandr Golovin and Folarin Balogun, Zakaria and Mawissa’s status remains uncertain.
When questioned about their absence, head coach Adi Hütter downplayed the situation, describing their condition as “nothing special” and attributing it to general fatigue, possibly due to an intense training session on Wednesday. As a precautionary measure, both players focused on gym work on Thursday.
Hütter stated that the medical team would evaluate Zakaria and Mawissa’s fitness on Friday before making a final decision on their participation in the upcoming match. The coach’s cautious approach highlights the importance of player welfare and the need to prevent potential injuries during a demanding season.
As Monaco prepares to face Brest, the team’s depth may be tested if these key players are unable to feature in the weekend fixture.
