Monaco Signs Promising Ivorian Defender Valy Konaté
AS Monaco has successfully acquired the services of Valy Konaté, an 18-year-old Ivorian football prospect. The young defender is set to join the club’s prestigious academy program.
Konaté, who previously played for Racing Club Abidjan in Ivory Coast, made his first-team debut at the remarkably young age of 15. His talent has also been recognized at the international level, having represented Ivory Coast’s U17 and U20 teams. Notably, he was part of the U20 squad at just 17 years old and witnessed his country’s victory in the recent Africa Cup of Nations.
At Monaco, Konaté will be united with fellow Ivorian Wilfried Singo, who played a crucial role in Ivory Coast’s AFCON triumph earlier this year. The young defender will initially join Monaco’s Elite Group, coached by former Liverpool player Djimi Traoré. This academy team is currently competing in the UEFA Youth League and has already secured its place in the next stage of the competition.
Konaté has committed to Monaco until 2029 and could make his debut for the club in an upcoming match against FC Liefering. His signing underscores Monaco’s commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening its youth development program.
