Alvaro Morata, currently on loan to Galatasaray from AC Milan, has shared his thoughts on rising star Lamine Yamal and Carlo Ancelotti`s recent career move in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport.
Morata expressed admiration for his young compatriot Yamal, describing him as “incredible” and praising his ability to transform on the pitch. The striker was particularly impressed by how Inter players acknowledged Yamal`s talent after their Champions League semifinal encounter.
“I`ve never seen anything like it,” Morata stated. “The recognition from Inter`s experienced, top-level players really stood out to me.”
Yamal`s outstanding season, which included 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 matches for Barcelona, has caught everyone`s attention. Morata believes the 17-year-old could even be a contender for the 2025 Ballon d`Or, saying, “I don`t think there`s any player right now who can make the difference like Yamal.”
Regarding Carlo Ancelotti`s appointment as Brazil`s national team coach, Morata expressed surprise. “It`s strange because you`d expect him on the Italian bench before going to Brazil,” he said. “But it makes sense – one of the greatest coaches in history with one of the greatest national teams in history.”
While acknowledging the logic behind the decision, Morata admitted he`s not thrilled about facing a Brazil team led by Ancelotti in the upcoming World Cup. “He`s going to make Brazil a very tough opponent,” he predicted.
Morata, who captains the Spanish national team and led them to victory in the recent Euros, remains uncertain about his future with AC Milan after his loan to Galatasaray ends in December 2025.
