Nantes Retains Kombouaré as Head Coach After Unsuccessful Negotiations with Other Candidates
FC Nantes has decided to maintain Antoine Kombouaré as their head coach following unsuccessful negotiations with potential replacements. Initially, it was anticipated that Kombouaré would lead the team in their Coupe de France match against Drancy JA before stepping down during the winter break.
The club had engaged in discussions with former manager Sérgio Conceição about a potential return. However, the Portuguese coach, who had been out of work since leaving Porto, declined the offer. Subsequently, Nantes explored the possibility of bringing in Habib Beye, who had recently led Red Star to promotion to Ligue 2. Complications arose regarding Beye’s coaching staff, with one member refusing to join and another still under contract with Red Star.
As a result of these setbacks, Nantes abandoned their pursuit of Beye. With no other viable options, the club has defaulted to retaining Kombouaré in his current position. Consequently, barring any unforeseen changes, Kombouaré is expected to be on the sidelines when Nantes faces Lille OSC on January 4th.
