Recent reports from Italy indicate that Napoli has rejected an improved bid from Turkish giants Galatasaray for striker Victor Osimhen, who spent the previous season on loan in Istanbul.
Napoli is expected to part ways with Osimhen this summer. The Nigerian international has been with the club since 2020 but has been seeking a move away from the Partenopei for the past year.
After a permanent transfer fell through dramatically on deadline day last summer, Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan for the 2024-25 season. There, he had an impressive campaign, scoring 37 goals and providing 8 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
With a €75 million release clause in his contract valid for clubs outside Italy, Osimhen appears set to depart in the near future. Earlier reports on Monday suggested Osimhen has agreed personal terms with Galatasaray on a three-year contract with an option for an additional year.
However, Napoli and Galatasaray still need to reach an agreement on the transfer fee. According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli has turned down Galatasaray`s initial offer of €60 million. The Italian club is pushing for a higher fee, closer to Osimhen`s €75 million release clause.
As negotiations continue, it remains to be seen if Galatasaray will increase their bid further or if another club will enter the race for the prolific Nigerian striker`s signature.
