Napoli in Advanced Talks to Sign Darwin Nuñez from Liverpool

Napoli are intensifying efforts to sign Darwin Nuñez from Liverpool, with club president Aurelio De Laurentiis now directly involved in negotiations. According to reports, De Laurentiis has personally met with agent Fali Ramadani, who is brokering the potential transfer of the Uruguayan striker to the Serie A champions.

The talks between Napoli and Liverpool have reached an impasse over the transfer fee. Liverpool are reportedly demanding €60 million for Nuñez, while Napoli have so far been unwilling to offer more than €43 million. However, sources suggest a deal could potentially be reached for around €50 million.

Nuñez is said to be open to joining Napoli, meaning personal terms are unlikely to be an obstacle if the clubs can agree on a fee. The 24-year-old striker is expected to leave Anfield this summer after a mixed debut season in England.

If negotiations for Nuñez fall through, Napoli are considering Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca as an alternative target. However, Lucca would likely cost at least €40 million, not significantly less than Nuñez.

The involvement of De Laurentiis indicates Napoli`s strong interest in completing the deal for Nuñez. The club president is taking a hands-on approach to strengthen the squad as Napoli look to defend their Serie A title and make an impact in the Champions League next season.
