Napoli is maintaining its interest in Liverpool`s Darwin Nunez, with recent discussions taking place regarding the striker`s potential transfer. Football Italia can exclusively reveal that while Nunez remains a top target, the Italian club is also considering other options such as Lorenzo Lucca and Rasmus Hojlund.
Following their Serie A title victory, Napoli is actively strengthening its squad to support coach Antonio Conte, who was persuaded to stay with the promise of new signings. The club aims to reduce its reliance on Romelu Lukaku by bringing in additional attacking talent.
Nunez Still a Priority for Napoli
The Uruguayan international`s acquisition would come at a significant cost, given Liverpool`s €85 million investment to bring him from Benfica in 2022. Despite Nunez`s contract running until June 2028, his performance this season – seven goals and seven assists in 47 appearances – has not fully justified his hefty price tag.
While Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal has also expressed interest in Nunez, Napoli remains in contention, offering the allure of Champions League football and the opportunity to continue competing at Europe`s highest level.
As alternatives, Napoli is also considering Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca and Manchester United`s Rasmus Hojlund, though Inter Milan appears to have an advantage in pursuing the latter.
