According to reports from Spain, Napoli is close to finalizing a deal with Sevilla for the transfer of right-back Juanlu Sanchez. The fee is expected to be under €20 million.
Negotiations for the Spain Under-21 international, who recently participated in the European Championship, have been ongoing. Napoli had initially hesitated to meet Sevilla`s asking price of €18 million plus bonuses, knowing the player was keen on the move.
Recent updates from Spanish media outlet Onda Capital and Italian source Calciomercato.com suggest that the clubs are now approaching an agreement for €18-20 million, including performance-related bonuses. This structure would allow Napoli to reduce the upfront cost and spread the payments through add-ons.
If the deal progresses as expected, Sanchez could undergo medical tests as early as next week.
The 21-year-old Sanchez, who turns 22 in August, is a product of Sevilla`s youth academy. This season, he impressed with five goals and five assists in 35 competitive matches for the club. With 12 caps for Spain`s Under-21 team, Sanchez has demonstrated his versatility by also playing as a right winger, a quality appreciated by Napoli`s coach Antonio Conte.
This potential signing represents a significant move for Napoli as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
