Nepomniashchy: Zakharyan Should Have Played in Portugal or Netherlands, Not Spain

Former Cameroon national team coach Valery Nepomniashchy has shared his thoughts on Russian midfielder Arsen Zakharyan’s latest injury setback at Real Sociedad.

“All of this should be done at one club, not in an unfamiliar environment where there are issues with adaptation, language, and so on,” Nepomniashchy stated. “In my opinion, the move was a bit rushed, especially to the Spanish league. It would have been better to play somewhere in Portugal or the Netherlands, but not in Spain.”

The 21-year-old Zakharyan missed the first half of the 2024/25 season due to an ankle tendon injury he sustained in July.
