According to reports, Newcastle United have reached an agreement on personal terms with AC Milan`s German center-back Malick Thiaw. The 23-year-old defender has apparently agreed to a four-year contract with the Premier League club.
Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger reported that Newcastle have made progress in their pursuit of Thiaw, though Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are also said to be interested in the player. However, AC Milan`s new head coach Massimiliano Allegri may be reluctant to part ways with Thiaw.
Allegri reportedly sees potential for Thiaw in a three-man defensive system and wants to keep him at the club. This marks a shift from earlier in the summer when Thiaw appeared to be on Milan`s transfer list.
Transfer Negotiations Ongoing
While personal terms may have been agreed, negotiations between Newcastle and AC Milan are still ongoing. The Premier League club is believed to have made an offer of around €30 million for Thiaw.
Milan are in a strong position to demand a substantial fee for the defender, who has impressed in pre-season training. Allegri`s tactical plans could play a crucial role in determining whether the transfer goes through.
For now, Thiaw`s future remains uncertain as the clubs continue discussions. Newcastle will be hoping to finalize the deal, while Milan must weigh the financial benefits against Allegri`s desire to keep the promising young defender.
