Newcastle United Leading Race to Sign AC Milan Defender Fikayo Tomori

Newcastle United are reportedly in pole position to sign AC Milan center-back Fikayo Tomori, with the England international eager to return to the Premier League. The Magpies are looking to strengthen their defensive options in the January transfer window.

According to reports, a deal for Tomori could be reached for around £31 million. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is known to be targeting defensive reinforcements, with the club also recently linked to RC Lens prospect Abdukodir Khusanov.

Tomori has impressed during his time in Italy, having been described as “extraordinary” by former AC Milan executive Ivan Gazidis. The 25-year-old could potentially form an effective partnership with Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, who has been impressing for the Tyneside club.

While Newcastle’s attack has been firing on all cylinders recently, bolstering the defense appears to be a priority for Howe. The potential addition of Tomori could provide more stability and depth at the back for the Magpies.

Tomori’s Premier League experience and strong performances in Serie A make him an attractive target for Newcastle. The defender would likely be keen to stake his claim for a regular starting spot if a move materializes, especially with his playing time at Milan decreasing this season.

A partnership of Tomori and Hall on Newcastle’s left side could prove formidable, combining youth and Premier League know-how. With Dan Burn now 32 years old, bringing in fresh defensive talent makes sense for Newcastle’s long-term planning.

As the January window approaches, Newcastle fans will be eagerly watching to see if the club can secure Tomori’s signature and further strengthen their improving squad.
