Nice Captain Dante Sidelined for Key PSG Encounter
OGC Nice’s experienced captain Dante will be unavailable for the upcoming match against Paris Saint-Germain on Friday evening due to a knee problem. The 41-year-old Brazilian defender also missed the previous game against Angers SCO last weekend.
Dante sustained the injury to his right knee during a training session last Saturday. Medical examinations conducted earlier this week confirmed his inability to participate in the PSG fixture. This setback follows a history of right knee issues for the veteran player, including an ACL injury in 2020 and a meniscus problem in early December 2024.
Nice manager Franck Haise had previously expressed doubts about Dante’s availability for the PSG match, noting that the defender would be unable to train at full intensity this week. While surgery is not anticipated, Dante is expected to return to action before the season concludes. A potential comeback could occur against Stade de Reims on May 2nd, or possibly for the away fixture at Stade Rennais the following week.
The absence of their captain and defensive leader presents a significant challenge for Nice as they prepare to face the formidable PSG squad. The team will need to adapt their strategy and rely on other players to fill the void left by Dante’s temporary absence.
