Hans Nicolussi Caviglia, a recent addition to the Italian national team, has expressed his admiration for football legends Johan Cruyff and Andrea Pirlo. The Fiorentina midfielder, who hails from the small region of Valle d`Aosta, spoke about his inspirations and his journey to the national team during a press conference.
“Coming from such a small region and reaching the national team is a great source of pride,” Nicolussi Caviglia stated. He emphasized the importance of curiosity and desire in his approach to the game, noting that while the coach provides the former, he strives to contribute the latter.
When asked about his role models, Nicolussi Caviglia mentioned Johan Cruyff, praising the Dutch icon`s vision both on and off the field. He also highlighted Andrea Pirlo as a source of inspiration, referring to him as “the best Regista ever” in Italian football.
The 25-year-old midfielder also discussed his Fiorentina teammate Moise Kean, expressing confidence in Kean`s abilities despite a slow start to the season. “Moise is an excellent player who always gives his all,” Nicolussi Caviglia said. “I believe he will make a decisive step forward this season.”
Nicolussi Caviglia, who joined Fiorentina from Venezia in the summer of 2025, has already made four Serie A appearances this season, providing one assist. His call-up to the national team marks a significant milestone in his career as Italy prepares for upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Estonia and Israel.
