Nigerian Striker Akor Adams Moves to Sevilla from Montpellier
Akor Adams, the 24-year-old Nigerian forward, has completed a €7m transfer from Montpellier to Sevilla, signing a contract until 2029. This move comes at a critical time for Montpellier, who are currently struggling in the relegation zone of Ligue 1.
Montpellier’s precarious position in the league, sitting just two points below the relegation playoff spot, adds significance to Adams’ departure. The club has recently shown signs of improvement, winning their last two league matches after a poor start to the season.
Interestingly, Adams was not featured in these recent victories, with Jordanian player Musa Al-Taamari stepping up to score twice in a crucial win against AS Monaco. There are also rumors circulating about the potential exit of Téji Savanier, Montpellier’s top scorer from last season, who is reportedly being courted by Saudi Arabian club Al-Taawoun.
Adams joined Montpellier in August 2023 from Norwegian club Lillestrøm, where he had an impressive record of 15 goals in 15 appearances in the 2023 Norwegian top-flight season. His move to Sevilla marks a significant step in his career, joining one of Spain’s most prominent clubs.
