Nottingham Forest Defender Omobamidele Close to Strasbourg Move
Irish center-back Andrew Omobamidele, 22, has arrived in Strasbourg to complete his transfer from Nottingham Forest to the French Ligue 1 side. The young defender is on the verge of finalizing his move after Strasbourg reached an agreement with the Premier League club.
Omobamidele, who has earned seven caps for Ireland, has struggled for playing time at Nottingham Forest since his €12 million transfer from Norwich City in 2023. He has made only 15 appearances for Forest, with just one coming this season in the EFL Cup.
The defender’s current contract with Nottingham Forest runs until 2028, but he is now set to continue his career in France. His arrival at Strasbourg may coincide with the departure of Abakar Sylla, who is reportedly no longer part of manager Liam Rosenior’s plans for the club.
This transfer represents an opportunity for Omobamidele to gain more regular playing time and further develop his skills in one of Europe’s top leagues. For Strasbourg, the signing of the promising Irish defender could bolster their defensive options as they look to improve their standing in Ligue 1.
