Nottingham Forest Pursuing Brazilian Forward as Alternative to Cunha
According to recent reports, Nottingham Forest are in competition with several top European clubs to acquire Brazilian forward Luis Henrique from Marseille. The Premier League side is considering Henrique as a potential alternative to their primary target, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha.
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of a possible Champions League campaign next season. The club has already submitted a £50 million bid for Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez and is working on a deal for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
While negotiations for Cunha are ongoing, Forest has now turned its attention to Henrique. The 23-year-old Marseille player has attracted interest from Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, and Inter Milan. This widespread interest could drive Henrique’s transfer fee above £25 million.
Henrique has impressed in Ligue 1 this season, earning praise from his manager Roberto De Zerbi: “He is having a fantastic season. He shows us that he is a complete player, with or without the ball. In terms of finishing, he scores goals. He is young and has to be determined to keep improving. He is one of the most important players for OM.”
With nine goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, Henrique could provide valuable depth to Forest’s attack, especially if the club qualifies for the Champions League. His potential arrival would increase competition for starting positions with current wingers Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
As Forest continues its pursuit of attacking reinforcements, the race for Henrique’s signature is likely to intensify in the coming weeks.
