Morgan Sanson and Terem Moffi participated in OGC Nice’s first-team training today. However, neither player will participate in the match against AJ Auxerre on Friday. The club has a planned approach to gradually bring both players back to full fitness, as revealed by Franck Haise on Wednesday.
Sanson has been sidelined for the entire season due to an ankle injury sustained just before the season began. Initially, doctors diagnosed a sprained ankle, but further examination a month later revealed a double ankle fracture.
Moffi is also nearing his return after suffering an ACL injury during pre-season. The plan for both players involves giving them playing time with Nice’s development team, called the Groupe Élite.
“Morgan will play with the Groupe Élite tomorrow (Thursday). It’s important for him to get back into game action. He will play for an hour against Brentford’s U23s,” Haise stated in a press conference. “Terem is progressing in his recovery, but there’s still some caution. We need to work carefully in the coming weeks. There’s another Groupe Élite game on the 26th against Brighton’s U23s, and he is expected to play then, even though it’s not a formal match. They are preparing for these games, and if their return to competition goes well, even in unofficial matches, it will be easier to consider them for first-team selection.”
