Divock Origi, who has been earning €4 million annually without playing for AC Milan, is now reportedly seeking an additional €2 million to terminate his contract prematurely.
The Rossoneri are actively working to clear their roster to make room for new signings. They have already released several players, including Luka Jovic and those returning from loan spells such as Tammy Abraham, Joao Felix, Riccardo Sottil, and Kyle Walker.
Origi`s Contract a Financial Burden for Milan
Origi joined Milan as a free agent from Liverpool in 2022, signing a lucrative contract worth €4 million net (€5.2 million gross) per season. However, his time at the club has been largely unproductive, with only 36 appearances before being loaned out to Nottingham Forest.
For the entire 2024-25 season, Origi was effectively frozen out of the first team. He was registered with Milan`s youth team but never made an appearance on the pitch.
Despite his lack of contribution, Origi is reluctant to terminate his contract early without additional compensation. According to reports from Calciomercato.com, he is demanding a €2 million severance package, which represents 50% of the wages he would earn if he were to see out his contract until June 2026.
This situation has become a significant financial issue for AC Milan as they seek to restructure their squad and allocate resources more efficiently.
