Palladino Hints at Formidable Fiorentina Squad for Celje Clash
Raffaele Palladino, Fiorentina’s head coach, has indicated that he may deploy a near full-strength lineup in the upcoming Conference League quarter-final against NK Celje. He emphasized the importance of approaching the match with the correct mindset, stating, “We must avoid the error of entering the field with an improper attitude. It would be extremely unwise.”
The initial leg of the quarter-final is scheduled for Thursday evening in Celje. While Robin Gosens remains sidelined due to a knee injury, the team is expected to see minimal rotation following their recent 2-2 draw against Milan in Serie A.
Palladino addressed Gosens’ condition during his press conference, saying, “Robin is improving, and we will assess his return in the coming days. However, we have other options in his position, such as Fabiano Parisi and even Michael Folorunsho.”
Fiorentina, having reached the Conference League Finals in the past two seasons under Vincenzo Italiano, is aiming for a third consecutive appearance despite falling short in 2023 and 2024.
The coach stressed the need for vigilance, noting, “All our opponents have shown great determination to defeat Fiorentina. We cannot afford to underestimate any aspect of the match or our opponents.”
Fiorentina Prepared for Tough Celje Challenge
Despite Celje being one of the lesser-known clubs at this stage of the competition, Palladino acknowledged their status as Slovenian champions and their strong home record. He cautioned against complacency, stating, “We must approach this as a two-legged tie, bringing energy, spirit, and determination to both matches.”
Palladino hinted at fielding a strong starting eleven, confirming David De Gea’s start in goal. However, he mentioned potential rest for Moise Kean and Dodo, who have seen extensive playing time this season.
The coach concluded by emphasizing the significance of the tournament: “The Conference League is a prestigious competition. We’re proud to have reached the quarter-finals and are determined to progress further.”
