Penalties Imposed on Inter, Milan, and Key Figures After Ultra Probe
Following an investigation into the connections between Inter, Milan, their staff, and ultra supporter groups, both clubs have been hit with financial penalties. Additionally, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi and midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will serve one-match bans.
The inquiry, initiated in November after the arrest of several ultras with alleged mafia ties, stemmed from the murder of Antonio Belocco, a prominent Inter Curva Nord member, by another supporter in early September.
It was discovered that high-profile figures including Inzaghi, Calhanoglu, Davide Calabria, and Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti had engaged with ultra members, violating FIGC regulations.
Suspensions for Inter’s Inzaghi and Calhanoglu
Inzaghi and Calhanoglu have negotiated one-match suspensions and fines (€15,000 for Inzaghi, €30,000 for Calhanoglu) with the FIGC Prosecutor’s Office. They were found to have breached rules prohibiting interactions with unofficial fan groups. As a result, both will miss Inter’s upcoming Serie A match against Hellas Verona.
Financial Penalties for Inter and Milan
Inter has been fined €70,000, while Milan must pay €30,000. Inter Vice-President Zanetti faces a €14,500 fine, and both clubs’ supporter liaison officers have received fines and 30-day suspensions.
Calabria’s Situation
Former Milan defender Davide Calabria, now with Bologna, is also under investigation. He will be interviewed by Giuseppe Chine and may negotiate a plea bargain or potentially face trial in federal courts.
