Pioli Shares Insights on Coaching Career and Star Players

In a recent interview, former AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli opened up about his current role at Al Nassr and his experiences coaching top players. Now working in Saudi Arabia, Pioli described it as an exciting new challenge in a rapidly developing football environment.

Speaking about Cristiano Ronaldo, Pioli praised him as “more than just a champion – a true legend of the sport.” He noted Ronaldo’s incredible professionalism and drive to excel daily.

Reflecting on his time at Milan, Pioli discussed managing talented but sometimes inconsistent players like Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao. He emphasized the need to motivate and challenge such players to reach their full potential.

Pioli also addressed Charles De Ketelaere’s struggles at Milan, acknowledging it wasn’t solely his fault and that the player seems to be thriving now under Gasperini at Atalanta.

On his overall Milan tenure, Pioli expressed pride in winning the unexpected Scudetto with a young team. He maintains good relationships with former directors Maldini and Massara.

The coach praised recent Milan signings like Reijnders and Pulisic, highlighting their quality and mentality. He remains optimistic about Leao’s continued growth, believing he has Ballon d’Or potential if he maintains his development.
