Pisa in Negotiations with Rennes for Henrik Meister Loan Deal
Italian Serie B contenders Pisa SC have initiated discussions with French club Rennes regarding a potential loan move for young Danish striker Henrik Meister. The 21-year-old forward, who joined Rennes last summer from Norwegian side Sarpsborg for €7 million, has found it challenging to secure regular playing time in Ligue 1.
Despite a promising start that saw Meister score on his debut against Lyon, the Danish youth international has struggled to establish himself in the Rennes squad. With only 59 minutes of total playing time this season, Meister has often been left out of the matchday squad entirely in recent months.
Rennes’ sporting director Frederic Massara, who orchestrated Meister’s signing along with several other foreign players lacking Ligue 1 experience, is now open to letting the young forward leave on loan. This move could provide Meister with valuable playing time and the opportunity to develop his skills in the competitive environment of Serie B.
Pisa SC, currently sitting second in Italy’s second tier, see Meister as a potential boost to their promotion aspirations. The loan deal, if finalized, could benefit all parties involved, offering Meister regular football, Pisa additional firepower, and Rennes the chance to see their investment gain experience elsewhere.
