Filippo “Pippo” Inzaghi has achieved a remarkable feat by guiding Pisa to promotion in Serie A, marking the club`s return to Italy`s top flight after a 34-year absence. This success has solidified Inzaghi`s position at the club, with Pisa`s President Giuseppe Corrado expressing his intention to retain the coach for the foreseeable future.
The Serie B season is still ongoing, but Pisa, along with Sassuolo, have already secured their spots in Serie A for the upcoming season. This achievement comes as a double celebration for the Inzaghi family, with Pippo`s younger brother Simone leading Inter Milan to the Champions League final after defeating Barcelona.
Pippo Inzaghi`s Coaching Journey
Inzaghi`s coaching career has been marked by various experiences across Italian football. Starting with AC Milan in 2014-15, he has since managed several clubs including Venezia, Bologna, Benevento, Brescia, Reggina, and Salernitana before taking the helm at Pisa in July 2024.
President Corrado revealed that Inzaghi had been interested in coaching Pisa for several years before his appointment. “The idea to bring Inzaghi on board came from my son Giovanni, who believed in Inzaghi`s ability to work with our young squad,” Corrado explained.
Pisa`s Commitment to Inzaghi
When asked about Inzaghi`s future with the club, Corrado stated, “He has a long-term contract with us. Of course, if an offer from Manchester City were to come in, we would let him go – that`s only fair. But Inzaghi has rediscovered the joy of success with Pisa.”
Corrado added that Inzaghi himself has described Pisa as one of the best environments he has experienced as a coach, a sentiment that brings great satisfaction to the club`s management.
As Pisa prepares for their return to Serie A, the club`s faith in Inzaghi and his connection with the team seem to be key factors in their recent success and future aspirations.
