Polish International Frankowski Departs Lens for Galatasaray in €10m Transfer
Polish right-back Przemyslaw Frankowski, 29, has completed his transfer from French club RC Lens to Turkish giants Galatasaray. The deal is reportedly worth up to €10 million.
Despite the French transfer window closing over a week ago, Turkish clubs can still make acquisitions until Tuesday. Galatasaray had been actively seeking a right-back, with failed attempts to sign Olympique Lyonnais players Ainsley-Maitland Niles and Clinton Mata.
Initially, Lens were reluctant to part ways with Frankowski. However, the player’s refusal to train or participate in matches paved the way for the transfer. The Polish international traveled to Turkey on Monday for his medical examination, finalizing the move.
The transfer structure involves an initial loan with a mandatory purchase clause. Galatasaray will pay €1 million for the loan period, followed by a €7 million fee at the season’s end. Additionally, Lens stand to receive up to €2 million in easily achievable performance-related bonuses.
