Portuguese Midfielder David Pereira Da Costa to Join Portland Timbers in €7m Deal
Lens offensive midfielder David Pereira Da Costa is on the verge of a €7 million transfer to Major League Soccer side Portland Timbers. The 24-year-old Portuguese talent is currently awaiting visa clearance before embarking on his journey to the United States, following a successful agreement between the two clubs.
Da Costa’s impending departure is not the only transfer activity for Lens, as Polish international Przemyslaw Frankowski is also expected to leave the club. Frankowski is likely to join Turkish Süper Lig team Galatasaray on a loan deal with a mandatory €10 million purchase clause.
Having spent nearly a decade at Lens, Da Costa progressed through the club’s youth academy before making his first-team debut in 2021. Throughout his tenure with the French side, he amassed an impressive 122 appearances and contributed 10 goals for the senior squad.
This transfer marks a significant move for the young Portuguese player, as he prepares to test his skills in the competitive environment of Major League Soccer with the Portland Timbers.
