PSG Explores Possibility of Signing Liverpool’s Konaté
Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reached out to the representatives of Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, 25, regarding a potential transfer this summer. This development comes as PSG anticipates the possible departure of their captain, Marquinhos, who has attracted interest from Saudi Arabian clubs.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi is reportedly spearheading efforts to bring the French international back to his hometown. Konaté himself has expressed flattery at the interest from major clubs, stating, “It’s very flattering to hear that big clubs are interested in me. For now, I’m focusing on this season and giving it my all. I’ll let my agents handle the rest.”
However, the potential transfer faces internal opposition. PSG’s manager Luis Enrique and sporting director Luís Campos are reportedly less enthusiastic about the move, with sources indicating that Konaté is not considered a priority target.
Adding to the complexity of the situation, Konaté is currently in discussions with Liverpool regarding a contract extension, with his current agreement set to expire at the end of next season.
As the summer transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen whether PSG will pursue Konaté more aggressively or if the internal disagreements will put an end to their interest.
