PSG’s Match Against Nantes Rescheduled to Accommodate Champions League Preparations
Paris Saint-Germain has successfully requested a change in their Ligue 1 fixture against FC Nantes, originally set for April 12-13. The match has now been rescheduled to April 22nd, as confirmed by the French Professional Football League (LFP).
This adjustment allows PSG to better prepare for their crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash with Aston Villa. The Parisian club will host the first leg the week prior, followed by an away match in Birmingham shortly after.
Initially, Nantes expressed concerns about the league’s competitive integrity due to this change. However, the LFP has approved PSG’s request. To mitigate the impact on Nantes’ schedule, their match against Stade Rennais has been moved to Friday, April 18th, with a subsequent game against Toulouse FC likely to take place on Sunday, April 27th.
This rearrangement benefits PSG, allowing them to focus entirely on their two-legged Champions League encounter with Aston Villa. Meanwhile, Nantes, under the guidance of Antoine Kombouaré, will use these fixtures to further distance themselves from the relegation zone.
