PSG’s Strategic Transfers: Simons Departs, Škriniar Set for Loan
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is making significant moves in the transfer market. Following the permanent transfer of Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for a reported €80 million, the French club has opened the door for Milan Škriniar to join Fenerbahçe on loan.
Simons, the 21-year-old Dutch attacking midfielder, is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Bundesliga club. This transfer terminates his loan agreement with Leipzig and alters PSG’s loan quota.
With Simons’ departure, PSG currently has five senior players on loan abroad: Randal Kolo Muani at Juventus, Carlos Soler with West Ham, Nordi Mukiele at Bayer Leverkusen, Renato Sanches with Benfica, and Cher Ndour at Besiktas.
As PSG is permitted to loan up to six senior players to foreign clubs, this development allows for Škriniar’s temporary move to Fenerbahçe. The 29-year-old Slovakian defender has already completed a medical examination with the Turkish club.
Škriniar joined PSG as a free agent after his contract with Inter Milan expired. Despite being under contract with PSG until 2028, he has fallen out of favor under manager Luis Enrique, despite being a regular starter last season.
These transfers highlight PSG’s ongoing strategy to manage their squad and financial resources effectively in the competitive landscape of European football.
