Christian Pulisic and Alexis Saelemaekers heaped praise on AC Milan`s remarkable determination and team effort in their 2-1 victory over Napoli, despite being reduced to 10 men.
The match at San Siro proved to be a crucial test for the Rossoneri this season. Pulisic played a pivotal role, setting up Saelemaekers` goal in the third minute after a impressive run from his own half, before scoring the second goal himself.
Napoli managed to get back into the game following Pervis Estupinan`s red card and Kevin De Bruyne`s subsequent penalty. However, Milan held firm to secure the win, with David Neres hitting the woodwork in stoppage time.
Pulisic`s Inspirational Performance
“The sacrifices we made were incredible, especially defending after the red card. It was truly special,” Pulisic told DAZN Italia. “The coach did an excellent job getting the best out of every player. We have a lot of quality in the squad, and we`re now able to demonstrate that on the field.”
Saelemaekers Emphasizes Team Unity
Saelemaekers also highlighted the unity within the Milan squad as they fought to overcome the reigning Italian champions at San Siro with a numerical disadvantage.
“From day one of training, we discovered we were a united family, and we proved that until the end today. The substitutes also gave their all when they came on. We`re really happy,” Saelemaekers told DAZN Italia.
“I always strive to give my best on the field. The fans see that and appreciate my efforts. The most important thing is our team spirit – we`re truly a family here. I`ll thank Christian for the assist by taking him golfing!”
This result means Napoli are now level on 12 points at the top of the Serie A table with both Milan and Roma.
“The season is very long. We work hard all week to achieve results like this, so we must take it one game at a time and see where we end up,” Saelemaekers concluded.
