Former Inter and Napoli manager Rafa Benitez has weighed in on the current Serie A title race, acknowledging Inter as the frontrunners while praising Napoli’s strong challenge. With a crucial match between the two sides approaching, Benitez offered his insights on the competition.

“Inter are still the favorites to win Serie A,” Benitez stated. “However, it’s not surprising to see Napoli among the top contenders. Bringing in a manager like Conte is a clear statement of ambition.”

The Spanish coach noted that while a tight title race wasn’t initially expected, Inter, Napoli, and Atalanta have emerged as the main challengers. He emphasized that the upcoming Inter-Napoli clash, while important, is not decisive with 11 matches remaining.

Benitez highlighted key players to watch, including strikers Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku. He also praised midfielders Lobotka and Calhanoglu for their ability to control games.

“Both Napoli and Inter have exceptional squad depth,” Benitez observed. “The title could be won with around 83 points, but a strong winning streak from any of the contenders could raise that bar significantly.”
