Ranieri: Roma Pushing for Champions League, Demanding More from Dovbyk
Roma manager Claudio Ranieri spoke to the media following his team’s 1-0 away victory against Lecce. He emphasized the importance of maintaining belief throughout difficult matches, especially when facing teams battling relegation.
Regarding Ukrainian striker Dovbyk, Ranieri stated that the team is pushing him to improve daily. They’re working on his ability to make vertical runs and receive the ball effectively. Ranieri noted that scoring goals will boost Dovbyk’s confidence.
The manager praised his team’s tactical awareness, particularly in pressuring Lecce’s build-up play from the goalkeeper. He also stressed the importance of staying focused on set pieces and quick transitions.
When asked about Roma’s Champions League aspirations, Ranieri revealed that he’s urged his players to give their all in the remaining eight matches. He wants the team to have no regrets come summer, emphasizing that each game will be as challenging as the Lecce fixture.
Ranieri expressed hope that the team will continue their good form. When questioned about finding a successor with his qualities, he humorously remarked that such a person doesn’t exist, but he hopes they’ll be younger.
