Claudio Ranieri, Roma`s manager, emphasized that Artem Dovbyk`s true capabilities have not been fully demonstrated, despite the striker`s impressive tally of 12 Serie A goals in his debut Italian season. Ranieri noted that these goals have been crucial in securing important points for the team.
Dovbyk`s winning goal in Roma`s 1-0 victory over Fiorentina extended the Giallorossi`s unbeaten run to 19 league matches. Ranieri suggested that Dovbyk`s emotional celebration after scoring indicates his ongoing adaptation process is yielding positive results.
Ranieri Urges Team to Support Dovbyk`s Development
“Dovbyk is performing well – his goals have been worth numerous points,” Ranieri stated in a post-match interview with DAZN. “He consistently gives his all. His teammates need to recognize his potential, as I believe we haven`t seen his best yet.”
The manager added, “He`s quite reserved, doesn`t communicate much, and is still improving his Italian. Recently, I`ve noticed him smiling more, which is significant. Did you observe his enthusiastic celebration? That`s a new development.”
Roma faced prolonged defensive pressure from Fiorentina and owe their victory in part to goalkeeper Mile Svilar, whose crucial saves proved decisive.
Ranieri expressed pride in his team`s ability to secure wins, even after a match filled with challenges. “I`m uncertain about our future trajectory,” he remarked. “I consistently demand the utmost from the players. I remind them that when we`re relaxing on the beach this summer, we should have no regrets about our achievements.”
He continued, “It`s worth noting that today we competed against a formidable team. They`re exceptionally skilled technically. We intended to apply high pressure, but their adept ball movement prevented us. Consequently, we delivered a great performance under intense pressure, which is what makes me most proud. Roma always rises to the occasion when I request a strong showing.”
