Ranking Tottenham’s Managers Since 2008 League Cup Win
Tottenham Hotspur are close to reaching another League Cup final, having defeated Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of the semi-final. A win or draw at Anfield would see them reach their first cup final since 2021. However, current manager Ange Postecoglou has faced criticism with the team sitting 12th in the Premier League.
Since winning their last trophy under Juande Ramos in 2008, Spurs have had eight permanent managers. Here’s how they rank in their attempts to end the club’s trophy drought:
8. Mauricio Pochettino (2014-2019)
While sacking Pochettino in 2019 now seems a mistake, he established Spurs as a top four side and led them to the Champions League final. He averaged 1.89 points per game in the Premier League and developed players like Kane and Son into world-class talents.
7. Harry Redknapp (2008-2012)
Redknapp first achieved Champions League qualification for Spurs, finishing fourth in his first full season. He led them to the quarter-finals in 2010/11 and set standards for future managers to build on.
6. Ange Postecoglou (2023-present)
If Postecoglou can win the League Cup this season, it could be a turning point. His attacking philosophy has produced some excellent football, with wins over Manchester City and Manchester United as highlights. With time, he may prove successful at Tottenham.
The remaining managers will be ranked based on their achievements and impact at the club during their tenures.
