Real Madrid Coach Alvaro Arbeloa Dismisses Explanations for Team’s Recent Dip

Real Madrid manager Alvaro Arbeloa stated that delving into the reasons behind his side’s recent struggles would be unproductive. After seeing a two-point lead at the top of La Liga vanish following consecutive defeats to Osasuna and Getafe, questions are being raised about the team’s direction and Arbeloa’s long-term future, with rumors suggesting the club is already exploring managerial candidates for the summer.

Arbeloa’s Focus on the Present

“Suffering two consecutive league defeats is always tough for a club like Real Madrid,” Arbeloa commented. “However, our sole focus is on tomorrow’s game. We understand the performance level required to secure a win. It hinges on our execution, composure, and confidence. The past is irrelevant; our entire concentration is on the upcoming match at Balaidos.”

“Explanations Wouldn’t Be Much Help”

Following promising victories against Real Sociedad and Benfica, any signs of improvement were notably absent in Pamplona and against Getafe. When pressed for an explanation regarding this downturn, Arbeloa offered a pragmatic response. “Winning is the only thing that matters here. Of course, I could provide explanations, but it wouldn’t change much. I am fully aware that this team is capable of playing better, and we possess an excellent squad. My confidence in our capabilities remains unshaken. I will continue to work tirelessly to achieve our goals until my very last day here.”

Challenges with Training Time

Despite recent free midweeks due to the Copa del Rey semi-finals, Arbeloa highlighted the scarcity of training ground opportunities as a contributing factor to the team’s inconsistency. “It’s a difficult situation. I might sound repetitive, but we simply haven’t had sufficient time to work; we’ve played almost more matches than we’ve had training sessions. Consequently, the integration of players, and my own integration with them, is progressing as it can. We definitely need to achieve greater consistency in our performances.”

Dismissing Talk of a Trophy-less Season

When asked if another season without silverware, following last year’s outcome, would be considered a failure, Arbeloa playfully dismissed the suggestion. “Again? You all arrived here in such an optimistic mood!” he quipped with a smile. “No, honestly, my mind is completely fixed on the Celta Vigo match. It’s my singular focus right now; the only thing I’m concentrating on. It’s the only objective I’ll be working towards with my players, and I’m not thinking about anything else at all.”

Real Madrid is set to face Celta Vigo at Balaidos on Friday night at 21:00 CEST, grappling with nine player absences due to injuries and suspensions.
