Spanish media outlet Marca has revealed that AC Milan`s left-back Theo Hernandez attempted to secure a return to Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants have shown little interest. Instead, they are focusing their attention on Benfica`s promising young talent, Alvaro Carreras.
Recent speculation had linked Hernandez with a potential move back to his former club. However, Marca`s report suggests that the interest was primarily from the player`s side, with Hernandez actively trying to position himself as a target for Real Madrid.
Real Madrid`s Transfer Priority
The Madrid-based club appears to be more interested in 22-year-old Alvaro Carreras, who previously spent time in Manchester United`s youth academy before joining Benfica for €6 million last summer. As part of that transfer, Manchester United retains first refusal rights on any future sale until December 31, although Carreras`s contract includes a €50 million release clause.
Hernandez`s future at AC Milan remains uncertain, with his current contract set to expire in June 2026. Negotiations for an extension have encountered difficulties, and Milan`s recent Coppa Italia final loss to Bologna further complicates matters by potentially ruling out Europa League qualification, which could impact the club`s budget.
As Real Madrid looks to strengthen their squad for the upcoming seasons, it seems Theo Hernandez may need to explore other options if he wishes to leave AC Milan in the near future.
