Real Madrid Manager Carlo Ancelotti Faces Potential Prison Term Over Tax Fraud Allegations
The Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a 4-year and 9-month prison sentence for Carlo Ancelotti, the current head coach of Real Madrid. Ancelotti is scheduled to appear in court on April 2nd to face charges of tax fraud.
The Madrid Provincial Court has set the trial date for the Italian manager, who stands accused of defrauding the Spanish tax authorities of approximately 1 million euros between 2014 and 2015. In addition to the alleged fraud, Ancelotti had a tax debt exceeding 1 million euros, which has already been seized by the Spanish Tax Agency.
According to the prosecution, Ancelotti concealed income related to his image rights. The coach claims to have transferred these earnings to various entities. The trial, beginning on April 2nd, will see Ancelotti facing potential imprisonment of nearly five years if found guilty.
This case highlights the ongoing scrutiny of high-profile figures in football regarding their tax affairs in Spain, adding Ancelotti to a list of managers and players who have faced similar allegations in recent years.
