Real Madrid Player Raúl Asencio Remains Under Investigation
The Provincial Court of Las Palmas has rejected an appeal from Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio, maintaining his status as a subject of investigation in a case involving the distribution of sexual content featuring a minor. The judge determined there was sufficient evidence to continue the legal proceedings against the footballer.
Asencio, along with three other players from different clubs, is being investigated for alleged crimes related to child pornography and the disclosure of secrets. The case stems from incidents in 2023 involving a video of a 16-year-old girl.
Despite arguments from Asencio’s defense team citing the absence of the video in question from the investigation, the court ruled that this does not negate its potential existence. The decision was influenced by testimony from another suspect who claimed Asencio had shown him the video, as well as incriminating conversations found on seized mobile devices.
If found guilty, the players could face prison sentences ranging from one to five years, depending on various factors including whether the recording and distribution were consensual. For Asencio, if it’s proven he only shared but did not record the video, he could potentially face a lesser sentence of one to three years.
As the legal process continues, Asencio will remain under investigation, with further developments in the case expected in the coming months.
