Real Madrid’s youth academy, La Fábrica, has been recognized as the most prolific producer of talent for European football’s elite leagues. A comprehensive study by the CIES Football Observatory reveals that over the past two decades, Real Madrid has nurtured 166 players who have gone on to compete in one of Europe’s top five leagues: Spain, Italy, France, Germany, and England.

This impressive figure places Real Madrid at the summit of youth development, narrowly outperforming their rivals FC Barcelona, who have produced 156 top-flight players. Paris Saint-Germain rounds out the top three with 111 players.

The CIES study employed strict criteria to define academy products, including a requirement that players spend at least three years with the club between the ages of 15 and 21. This methodology ensures a fair assessment of each club’s developmental impact.

Real Madrid’s academy graduates have accumulated over one million minutes of playing time in the top five leagues, demonstrating not just quantity but quality in their development program. Barcelona’s products have achieved similar playing time, while PSG’s graduates have logged about half a million minutes.
