Reims Secures Coupe de France Final Spot, but Manager Diawara Remains Critical of Performance
Stade de Reims has successfully reached the Coupe de France final, but their journey was far from smooth. The Ligue 1 team struggled against fourth-tier AS Cannes, managing a narrow 2-1 victory despite being outplayed in possession and shots on goal.
Reims appeared passive for much of the match, often failing to match Cannes’ energy. Nevertheless, the win secures their place in the final against Paris Saint-Germain and follows a surprising 3-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille in their previous match.
Following the game, manager Samba Diawara expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s performance. “We’ve reached the Coupe de France final and control our league destiny. However, I’m not pleased with how we achieved this. Our survival depends on more consistent play. We seem to take a step forward, then immediately retreat,” Diawara stated in the post-match conference.
He further added, “Reverting to old mistakes is concerning, but I don’t want to dampen the mood. The important thing is that we’ve qualified.”
