Reims Secures Spot in Coupe de France Final with Narrow Victory over Cannes
In a thrilling Coupe de France semi-final match, Stade de Reims emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over AS Cannes, earning their place in the final against Paris Saint-Germain.
The match began with Cannes showing early promise, as Chafik Abbas narrowly missed the target with a well-executed shot. However, it was Reims who struck first, with Ibrahim Hafiz capitalizing on Mamadou Diakhon’s assist to open the scoring.
Reims adopted a cautious approach, allowing Cannes possession while looking for counterattacking opportunities. Keito Nakamura and Valentin Atangana both came close to extending Reims’ lead but failed to convert their chances.
The second half saw Cannes equalize through Cheikh Ndoye’s header from a corner kick. However, their jubilation was short-lived as Teddy Teuma quickly restored Reims’ lead with a well-placed finish.
Despite Cannes’ efforts to force extra time, including a close-range header from top scorer Julien Domingues that was brilliantly saved by Yehvann Diouf, Reims held on for the win. The victory sets up an exciting Coupe de France final between Reims and Paris Saint-Germain, scheduled for May 24th at the Stade de France.
