Rennes Makes €22 Million Offer for Lens Defender Kevin Danso
Stade Rennais FC has reportedly made a €22 million bid for RC Lens defender Kevin Danso. The 26-year-old Austrian international has caught the eye of both Rennes and English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Rennes sees Danso as a crucial addition to bolster their defense under manager Jorge Sampaoli. The club has already signed former Lens players Brice Samba and Seko Fofana this transfer window, and adding Danso would further strengthen their squad.
However, Lens is said to be holding out for a higher fee, valuing Danso at around €30 million, with at least €25 million as a fixed transfer fee. The Artois club has already lost two key defenders this winter, with Abdukodir Khusanov and former captain Samba departing for significant sums.
Rennes is actively seeking reinforcements before the February 3rd transfer deadline to improve their performance. They have already invested €47 million in new signings, including Fofana, Samba, and Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi. The club is also showing interest in Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath.
If the transfer materializes, it would reunite Danso with his former teammates and Arnaud Pouille, the ex-Lens CEO who now serves as Rennes president. The move could significantly impact both clubs’ defensive strategies for the remainder of the season.
