A pivotal moment in the Paris Saint-Germain versus Liverpool game has ignited controversy, with many in Paris questioning the judgment of Italian referee Davide Massa. Luís Campos, PSG’s sporting advisor, was visibly enraged and challenged the referee in the tunnel during halftime.
Cameras from Canal+ captured Campos’s outburst in the Parc des Princes tunnel, where he exclaimed, “It should be a red card or a penalty anywhere! Absolutely a red card or a penalty!”
Rio Ferdinand, former Manchester United defender and current TNT Sports analyst, was certain about Ibrahima Konaté’s challenge on Bradley Barcola during Liverpool’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain. The incident occurred at Parc des Princes.
As VAR reviewed the play, Ferdinand commented, “That’s clearly a foul. He’s hit him in the back, it’s a foul. It’s a red card. I’d be shocked if it’s not a red card. It would be a shame if the game was affected by a sending off, as you want to see the best players compete equally for the entire match.”
Ferdinand further stated, “I can’t believe Liverpool escaped a red card on that decision. How did VAR miss that? He clearly crashes into his back.”
