Rising Star Désiré Doué Embraces First France National Team Experience
Désiré Doué, the 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder, is making waves in French football. After a challenging start following his €50 million transfer from Stade Rennais, Doué has become an integral part of Luis Enrique’s squad, contributing both as a starter and substitute.
Doué’s recent performance against Liverpool in the Champions League, where he scored the decisive penalty in the shootout, helped secure PSG’s place in the quarter-finals. This success was followed by his first call-up to the French national team, marking a significant milestone in his career.
Despite arriving late for his first training session with the national team, Doué remains optimistic and grateful for the opportunity. In his first press conference since joining the squad, he expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m living my dream. I’m trying to put everything that’s happening to me into perspective. I’m here to play and I have ambitions.”
The young midfielder also acknowledged the role PSG played in his development but emphasized that his hard work was the primary factor in his national team selection. “I should thank PSG and especially the president who helped me a lot and convinced me to come. However, I don’t think joining PSG accelerated my process in joining the France team. It’s my work above all,” Doué stated.
As France prepares for upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Croatia, Doué hopes to make his debut for Les Bleus during this international break. The talented youngster’s journey from club success to national team recognition serves as an inspiration for aspiring footballers across France.
