Roma Claims 1-0 Win Against Verona with Shomurodov Strike
Roma maintained their unbeaten run and boosted their European ambitions with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Verona at the Stadio Olimpico. An early goal from Eldor Shomurodov proved decisive as the Giallorossi held on for all three points.
The hosts were looking to extend their 16-match undefeated streak, though recent draws against Juventus and Lazio had slowed their momentum. They were still without the injured Paulo Dybala, while Verona missed several key players including Casper Tengstedt.
Verona started brightly, with Amine Sarr and Jackson Tchatchoua causing problems for the Roma defense. However, it was the home side who took the lead after just 4 minutes. A cross-field pass from Bryan Cristante found Matias Soulé, who shrugged off his marker and chipped the ball for Shomurodov to bundle home from close range.
Roma threatened to extend their advantage, with Soulé testing Montipò at his near post. At the other end, Daniel Mosquera squandered a good chance for the visitors, scuffing his finish when well-placed.
Verona pushed for an equalizer after the break, with Mosquera going close with a curling effort that was deflected just wide. Roma substitute Artem Dovbyk nearly doubled the lead late on, but his powerful shot flew narrowly past the post.
The Giallorossi held firm in the closing stages to secure a vital three points that keeps them firmly in contention for European qualification. For Verona, the defeat leaves them still looking anxiously over their shoulders at the relegation zone.
