According to Italian media reports, AS Roma is prepared to entertain offers for Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk, merely one year after his arrival at the Stadio Olimpico. The 26-year-old joined the Giallorossi in the summer of 2024 for a fee of approximately €30.5 million plus bonuses, following an impressive season as LaLiga`s top scorer with Girona.
However, Dovbyk`s transition to Serie A has been less than smooth. The striker struggled to replicate his previous goalscoring form, netting just 12 times in 32 league appearances during the 2024-25 campaign. By season`s end, he had lost his status as a guaranteed starter.
Injuries have played a significant role in Dovbyk`s difficulties. The forward battled knee problems, including an inflamed tendon and muscular issues, throughout his debut season. These setbacks have persisted, causing him to miss half of Roma`s pre-season training thus far. The club hopes he will recover in time for upcoming friendlies against Premier League sides Aston Villa and Everton.
Roma`s Stance on Dovbyk`s Future
Given his injury troubles and underwhelming first season, Roma no longer views Dovbyk as indispensable. The club is reportedly open to considering appropriate offers, with a minimum asking price of €35 million. This figure takes into account the need to secure a replacement should Dovbyk depart.
If a transfer materializes, Roma could turn their attention to Atalanta`s Rasmus Hojlund, a player favored by manager Gian Piero Gasperini. However, any potential move remains speculative at this stage.
As Roma prepares for the upcoming season, Dovbyk`s future hangs in the balance. The club must weigh the potential benefits of retaining a player who could still fulfill his promise against the opportunity to recoup their investment and pursue alternative attacking options.
