According to reports from Italy, AS Roma are pursuing deals for Brighton & Hove Albion players Evan Ferguson and Matt O`Riley. The Giallorossi are exploring options to bring both the Irish striker and Danish midfielder to the Italian capital.
O`Riley Could Leave Brighton After One Season
O`Riley joined Brighton last summer for a fee of up to £30 million from Celtic. However, the 24-year-old endured a difficult first season in England, struggling with injuries. He made just 21 Premier League appearances for Brighton in the 2024-25 campaign.
Italian sources suggest Brighton may be open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy for O`Riley. New Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini is reportedly a big admirer of the Denmark international and keen to bring him to Serie A.
Fresh Start for Ferguson in Rome
Ferguson spent the latter half of last season on loan at West Ham United but failed to make an impact, appearing just 8 times without scoring. The young Irish striker has found goals hard to come by recently, netting only once in his last 21 Premier League matches dating back to the start of the previous season.
A move to Roma could provide Ferguson with a chance to reignite his career in a new league. The Italian club are said to be pursuing a loan deal with an option to buy the 19-year-old forward permanently.
If Roma can complete deals for both Brighton players, it would represent a significant double swoop from the Premier League for Jose Mourinho`s former club. The transfers would bolster Roma`s attacking options as they look to challenge for Champions League qualification next season.
